    Niznik Behavioral Health (NBH) is a provider of behavioral health services for adolescents and adults.     We are looking for an experienced Chef to provide meals for our clients in our small detox facilities in the Denver area.  


    Overseeing​ ​and​ ​coordinating​ ​the​ ​work​ ​responsibilities​ ​of​ ​the​ ​kitchen

    • Preparing​ ​and​ ​storing​ ​food​ ​correctly
    • Strong​ ​understanding​ ​of​ ​nutrition
    • Planning​ ​fresh​ ​and​ ​nutritional​ ​meals​ ​and​ ​menus
    • Keeping​ ​stations​ ​cleaned​ ​and​ ​organized
    • Following​ ​and​ ​creating​ ​recipes
    • Maintaining​ ​excellent​ ​hygiene
    • Proper​ ​storage​ ​of​ ​kitchen​ ​equipment​ ​and​ ​lifting​ ​heavy​ ​pots
    • Has​ ​understanding​ ​of​ ​safe​ ​food-handling​ ​techniques
    • Addressing​ ​patient​ ​allergies,​ ​dietary​ ​restrictions​ ​and​ ​needs​ ​(celiac,​ ​diabetes,etc.)
    • Working​ ​with​ ​purchasing​ ​to​ ​ensure​ ​that​ ​the​ ​kitchen​ ​is​ ​always​ ​properly​ ​stocked​ ​for​ ​patient needs/​ ​maintain​ ​inventory​ ​of​ ​food​ ​supplies
    • Training​ ​of​ ​food​ ​preparation​ ​workers
    • Supervise​ ​kitchen​ ​staff​ ​and​ ​ensure​ ​that​ ​the​ ​kitchen​ ​is​ ​always​ ​properly​ ​staffed
    • Ensure​ ​that​ ​all​ ​merchant​ ​invoices​ ​are​ ​properly​ ​allocated​ ​and​ ​submitted​ ​for​ ​payment
    • Adheres​ ​to​ ​facility​ ​confidentiality,​ ​HIPAA​ ​and​ ​patient​ ​rights​ ​policies​ ​of​ ​facility
    • Complies​ ​with​ ​federal,​ ​state​ ​and​ ​local​ ​health​ ​and​ ​sanitation​ ​regulations​ ​and​ ​Organization and​ ​department​ ​sanitation​ ​policies
    • Can​ ​explain​ ​the​ ​causes​ ​of​ ​foodbome​ ​illnesses​ ​and​ ​infections,​ ​their​ ​characteristics,​ ​and​ ​the most​ ​commonly​ ​infected​ ​items  Maintains​ ​a​ ​practice​ ​of​ ​handling​ ​clean​ ​and​ ​sanitized​ ​equipment​ ​and​ ​utensils​ ​to​ ​protect them​ ​from​ ​contamination
    • Ensures​ ​process​ ​for​ ​maintaining​ ​food​ ​at​ ​the​ ​proper​ ​temperature​ ​at​ ​all​ ​times​ ​during freezing,​ ​thawing,​ ​preparation,​ ​holding,​ ​and​ ​serving
    • Implements​ ​rules​ ​of​ ​safe​ ​practice​ ​for​ ​handling​ ​and​ ​discarding​ ​of​ ​leftover​ ​foods
    • Communicates​ ​effectively​ ​with​ ​all​ ​team​ ​members,​ ​patients​ ​and​ ​families​ ​through conferences,​ ​individual​ ​consultation​ ​and​ ​committee​ ​participation.​ ​This​ ​includes telephone,​ ​written,​ ​and​ ​electronic​ ​communication
    • Has​ ​firm​ ​understanding​ ​of​ ​infection​ ​control​ ​precautions
    • Demonstrates​ ​an​ ​understanding​ ​of​ ​food​ ​temperature/time​ ​controls 


    • At​ ​least​ 1 ​year’s​ ​worth​ ​of​ ​experience​ cooking​ ​in​ ​kitchen​ ​and​ ​restaurant​ ​settings
    • Willingness​ ​to​ ​work​ ​hard​ ​and​ ​operate​ ​in​ ​a​ ​team​ ​structure
    • Associate’s​ ​degree​ ​or​ ​culinary​ ​degree preferred 
    • Knowledge​ ​of​ ​how​ ​to​ ​use​ ​a​ ​wide​ ​variety​ ​of​ ​kitchen​ ​equipment
